Eucalyptus leucoxylon:
is known as the Yellow Gum and is a native of Victoria and South
Australia. The Yellow Gum develops into a small to medium tree. The bark is
rough for one to two metres above the ground. Above this, the bark is smooth
and has either a white, yellow or bluish colour. The flowers come in a range
of colours from white through cream to pink and red. Barrel-shaped gum nuts
follow the flowers. There is also a sub-species known as megalocarpa.
This sub-species is smaller in height, has larger fruit and is the most
popular in cultivation. All forms of Eucalyptus leucoxylon have proved
to be drought resistant, frost tolerant and fast growing.
Propagate from seed.
